Following a long period of inactivity the Cyprus Branch regrouped on 13th March 2012 and held an AGM.
The Branch Committee previously consisted of Evan Mackay, Honorary Branch Secretary, Aleksandr Kinchin, Honorary Branch Treasurer, Peter Bond and Demetris Demetriou.
After 7 years, Evan Mackay advised that he wished to stand down as Honorary Branch Secretary and from the Committee. The Committee and the Branch extended their thanks to Evan for all his good work, tirelessly committed, in running the Branch secretariat functions.
Committee Members – Peter Bond and Demetris Demetriou indicated their willingness to continue and Ricardo Jimenez and Mikhail Konoplev (Vice Chairman) were also proposed and elected for Committee.
Graham Cowling was proposed and nominated for Branch Chairman. In his acceptance speech the Chairman advised that the Branch Committee will be planning to hold an exciting series of presentations and events during the year. This will consist primarily of evening meetings covering topical subjects as well as panel discussions and ship visits. The Branch is also keen to develop an interesting programme of annual or bi-annual seminars. The Committee will be working on these subjects over the next few months to see what topics could be of interest.
The Honorary Treasurer presented his report outlining that the Branch finances were in good order before the floor was opened up to the Members for their contributions and suggestions.
