Keeping Moving in a Global Problem
The effects of the global COVID pandemic were also experienced by the NI Cyprus Branch. The biggest challenge was the inability to hold physical seminars and Branch Committee meetings. The pandemic also created personal and professional challenges for our Branch members in terms of increased work load, instability of business, and psychological impacts which also affected participation in the Branch activities.
However, as with the larger maritime community, we have demonstrated resilience and adaptability. The Branch moved many of its activities online. We can, at least in Cyprus, expect the challenges to continue for most of 2021.
Our Branch recognizes the need to stay active, have our voice heard, and demonstrate our commitment to the aims of the Nautical Institute. Despite Cyprus going in and out of lockdown, we are not giving up!
